Size: 34 homes
Tenure: Affordable rent
Main Contractor: Willmott Dixon
Completion: September 2017
Developed as part of the ground-breaking Liverpool Housing Partnership, Leighton Dene has brought 34 smart, modern homes to a high visibility site in Fazakerley.
This £4.6 million project delivered desirable family homes for affordable rent on a neglected site - land that had once hosted a run-down nursing home and had lain vacant for a number of years.
Liverpool City Council released the site to the award-winning Liverpool Housing Partnership, an innovative housing consortium model that sees receipts from land sales to Redrow Homes ring-fenced and reinvested into affordable housing.
Designed by architects Bowker Sadler and delivered in partnership with main contractor Willmott Dixon, the scheme comprises 17 two-bedroom and 5 three-bedroom houses, as well as 9 one-bed and 3 two-bed apartments.
The apartments, terraced and semi-detached homes benefit from off-road parking and green spaces, as well as the latest energy efficient products including new boilers, new central heating systems and double glazed windows and doors.
These energy efficiency upgrades will result in lower fuel bills for new tenants, while high quality modern kitchens and bathrooms in every property further add to the living experience.
All properties have been let on an affordable rent basis through the Property Pool Plus choice-based lettings scheme.
