Development update: The Maples extra care

The Maples on Westhead Avenue, Kirkby is one of LMH Group’s flagship developments and will provide much-needed Extra Care housing and supported living in Knowsley.

Construction has been underway since March and significant progress has already been made on site. The state-of-the-art scheme will offer 170 homes, including one and two-bedroom Extra Care homes providing around-the-clock support for residents. Working in partnership with main contractor Lane End Developments, the scheme is on track and first completions are expected in Spring 2020.

The ground floor of the extra care homes is rapidly taking shape with apartments being constructed into the steel frame system. Two cranes are now on site to deliver infrastructure elements across the extensive development. Several of these homes are already at ground floor stage.

In addition to the extra care homes, there will be 16 supported housing units and 54 new homes which will be available via Affordable Rent and Rent to Buy.

Rent to Buy is a new government backed product to help people wanting to take their first step on to the property ladder giving them the ability to rent a property with the intention of buying at a later date. A reduced market rent enables the occupier to save for a deposit whilst living in their new home.

The tower crane on site has been fitted with a camera to record a time lapse film of the development, which will be revealed as the site progresses.
